INVITATION TO TOTAL CONSECRATION: "Because that is Our Lord’s Will and also our Dearest Heavenly Mother’s"

I want to share a quick INVITATION TO TOTAL CONSECRATION with you.
God has put it so strongly on my heart to gather people together in making a formal Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary.

I'm absolutely convinced this is vitally important -not only for ourselves - but for our children, our marriages, our homes and our families  - as well as for the entire world.

1. What is Total Consecration?
It is giving ourselves – entrusting ourselves – completely to God in and through and with Mary.

2. Why should we make our total consecration?
Because, it’s the most important thing we can do
to know and love Jesus more deeply,
to fully become the saints whom God created us to be,
while "being the quickest, easiest, surest and most perfect means" of doing so -
and because it is God’s will for us to do so in order to save the world.

Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries who saw Mary in Fatima in 1917, stated:

“World war or world peace depends on the practice of ... consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary… most of all because that is Our Lord’s will and also our dearest Heavenly Mother’s."
To me, Consecration to Mary is one of the most humbling things we can do.
This is one of the reasons why I believe it is so transformative!
And this is also why I see it as the easiest and surest way of both living out the Divine Will and also helping to bring God's Kingdom about - because when we give ourselves completely to God through Mary, He is able to have His Way with us, so that He is able to live inside of us and through us and work within us - in a way He never was able to before (with the help and love and prayers of our Mother)
- So, that then we and our lives and prayers are able to impact the world around us in ways that we can never conceive or imagine!!
Remember, Mary told us in Fatima that Consecration to her Immaculate Heart was God's desire for us and that it would be our hope and the means through which He would save us and the world!
3. What should I understand before I begin?
Because Consecration brings about such grace,
is such a powerful means to greater union with God and
because it’s so vitally important not only for us but for the whole world,
know that you will be greatly tempted not to begin this consecration or to stop once you’ve started.
Satan will tempt you with a million excuses for you not to do it or for why you can’t continue.
There will be thoughts that come to you against this devotion.
There will be thoughts against making it again as you’ve done it before… and to what use?
There will be thoughts against Mary
or thoughts against ourselves because satan tells us we are unable or unworthy or too sinful,
or thoughts against each other regarding the same…
There will be things, activities, commitments that come up – you may miss days – but I encourage you:
Do not let any of this, or anything stop you!
No other plans are more important.
And once you’ve begun, if you miss a day, don’t give into the temptation to stop.
Begin again… catch up.

God will meet us where we are!
None of us can or will do this perfectly.
This is not about perfection, but growing in faith and trust.
It is not a test, but a journey with and in the School of Our Lady.
It is a time to draw closer to God and to Truth - in and through His Mother -who is our secret weapon against satan, who is absolutely crushed by her humility as Genesis foretells us: “and she will crush your head” Gen. 3:15.
Let us be confident, therefore, that if we make this commitment for 33 days, Mary will be with us as our advocate. And because she is never outdone in generosity - if we give all that we can, (although little and insignificant and filled with faults) - she will outdo us in giving back to us far greater graces than we can ever imagine.  And, she will also help make up for what we’re lacking – by making even the little we can offer into a beautiful gift for God.

Remember, it isn’t without reason that many of the greatest of saints, including St. John Paul II, called making this consecration the turning point of his life. Consecration not only was a turning point, but it became the heart and soul of his life and pontificate, evidenced in making the essence of consecration his papal motto: “Totus Tuus”, which means Totally Yours. He even even taught that Consecration is not an optional devotion, but rather that: “this “perfect devotion” is indispensable to anyone who means to give himself without reserve to Christ and to the work of redemption.”
So, what do we do now? Here is some guidance about the 33 days of preparation and some options for entering into them:

My plan is to post insights that will help us enter more deeply into our Consecration during these 33 days of preparation.
(*See important update below to join in consecration after these dates!)
I will post something online each day – sharing different teachings to lead us into Total Consecration.
I hope to pull together pieces from Fr. Gaitley's 33 Days to Morning Glory, as well as wisdom from St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe and John Paul II, but I also feel called to add other teachings on consecration, such as:
Scripture and prayer,
Mary’s own words in her calls and visits to earth – especially in Fatima, where God expressly asked for devotion to Mary and for consecration -
and additional wisdom of the saints.
God willing, I will try to post videos or podcasts along with or in place of these daily teachings.
Here is some guidance about the 33 days of preparation and some options for entering into them:

During this week before we begin our 33 days, I encourage you to go to confession and to pray to Mary and the Holy Spirit to prepare your mind and soul and will to receive the grace to enter more fully into this time of consecration.
If you haven’t already, read through the article on John Paul II, Medjugorje and Fatima
https://enteringintothemystery.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-deep-connections-between-saint-john.html
and ponder again this short introductory teaching (above) about consecration.

Also, if you have time, another great option is to watch a 30-minute video: Mary as the New Eve by Dr. Brant Pitre, (who is one of the greatest Catholic teachers of our day) on formed.org:
https://watch.formed.org/lectio-mary-with-dr-brant-pitre/season:1/videos/the-new-eve-1

Dr. Pitre’s 7 part Lectio Divina series on Mary will help us understand more deeply Mary and her place in God’s plan. It also fits perfectly within our preparation time. So, I will offer to you a different video from this series as an optional resource each week.

Please pray about making this consecration! As I’ve written above, it’s one of the greatest things you can ever do for yourself and your family.  And I know from experience, it has the ability to transform us.
While praying about making the consecration, also know that:
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!”
So, even though I'd love for you to join me on this journey of Total Consecration, if you feel called to do so by another way, please do so.

Praying that God's will only and always be done in this consecration and within our lives and families and entrusting all to Jesus, Mary and Joseph. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.

*UPDATE: I wrote this to begin on November 5, 2019 and end on December 8 the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, but you can join us at any time - even if these days are past!  Just access these writings and pray with them whenever you feel called!

To end on a Marian feast day, here are some optional starting dates to begin:
UPDATE 2:
It is in the spirit of the Scandalous Love of God, and encouraged by the Truth that God is able to shine most brightly and perfectly through our weakness, and that I believe God has been saying to me since before I began, that it's His Will that this 33 Days of formation be "imperfect" as a sign that the formation is for the "imperfect" ...

So I believe, if you're reading this, it is God's will for you to begin this consecration TODAY without waiting for a particular date above and  ending on ANY day of the year - as literally every day of the year is a feast of Mary!

Seriously, check it out for yourself:

And that its okay if we take longer than 33 days to make our Consecration ...
Because it's infinitely more important that we do this - than that we do it perfectly!!!

... It's important to make this accessible and doable for us, because this Consecration of ourselves to Jesus through Mary is the most important thing each of us can be doing right now.

Medjugorje: "Where Man Encounters God"

2019 Medjugorje Youth Festival - 30th Annual Mladifest!

I wanted to share about an amazing 5-day event that took place in Medjugorje at the beginning of August. At which, Archbishop Henryk Hoser, the Pope's personal representative to this place of ongoing daily reported apparitions lasting nearly 40 years, spoke of Medjugorje as being"something that one needs to encounter. It is that invisible reality, yet intensive and very much present. This is the world of the spirit, the world where man encounters God." [Please see below for his full remarks].
This year was monumental in many ways as fourteen of the highest representatives of the Church gathered to witness and take part in the 30th Annual Youth Festival. Resulting in the Catholic News Service report that stated: “Vatican confirms Medjugorje approval by joining youth festival." They are referring to the Pope's decree in May that opened wide the door to official parish and diocesan pilgrimages to Medjugorje.

An estimated 60,000 youth from 97 countries attended the festival. This is an addition to the millions who have journeyed to be a part of this celebration over the last 30 years. Also, reports stated that more than 700 priests were hearing confessions all day long - every day. Imagine!
I haven’t had the chance to go, but from what I’ve heard, the Festival that those who attend are touched deeply and profoundly by the experience.

That’s exactly what the top representatives of the Church said in interviews following the events. For instance, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the Vatican head for the Promotion of the New Evangelization celebrated the last Mass of the Youth Festival. In his interviews following the events, who has pastoral responsibility for Marian shrines of the world, said:
this place is the destination for millions of pilgrims each year
·     I was … impressed by the great number of youth here. Yes, this was the 30th Youth Festival, however it felt for me as I was again on the World Youth Day. I think this is one really important event that defines Medjugorje and involves so many people. Not only in accommodating all these young pilgrims, but also in formation they receive. The prayer programme is enriched with catechesis and dialogue, something of great importance in New Evangelization in these times.
·      Prayer is at the first place, in its peak in the Holy Eucharist and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. I need to emphasize that the event that took place on the last evening is really significant. After two hours of the intensive Eucharistic celebration, we could witness the profound silence of so many youth and 800 priests who remained in the Eucharistic Adoration.
·      Those are the elements of the New Evangelization”.

“Radio Medjugorje reported … that parts of the festival had been watched via the internet by more than 2.8 million people worldwide.”

In addition to just reading reports about the youth festival, we can still experience it today via the internet - by watching videos from all five days of events – including watching the speakers, homilies, testimonies, processions, adoration and prayers here:

Also, you can still access news of each day’s events and homilies at the following links found on the official Medjugorje parish website:

Day 1:

The jubilee 30th Youth Festival began with the Holy Mass celebrated by Cardinal Angelo de Donatis, General Vicar of Rome, with 620 Archbishops, bishops and priests concelebrating. Dozens of thousands of youth were gathered here and there were 1.747.100 live-stream viewers all over the world, never as many as on this day. (PHOTO)

Day 2:
The Apostolic Nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto, was the main celebrant on the second day of the Youth Festival, with 678 priests concelebrating and more than 1.996.700 live-stream viewers from all over the world. (PHOTO)

Archbishop Henryk Hoser, the Apostolic Visitor for the parish of Medjugorje celebrated on the third day of the Youth Festival the evening Holy Mass with 689 priests concelebrating. Day 4:
At the beginning of Holy Mass, Fr. Marinko Sakota, OFM, thanked Cardinal of Vrhbosna Vinko Puljic, for his coming here and expressed his great joy as our shepherd from Bosnia and Herzegovina joined us here.
“Your Most Reverend Eminence, I know how long you have waited for this moments and how you longed to be with us in Medjugorje. I know how much you were with us and sympathised with us in these years”, said Fr. Marinko. (PHOTO)

Day 5:
Archbishop Rino Fisichella celebrated Holy Mass with 714 priests concelebrating and there were 2.856.000 live stream followers, with hundreds of thousands of those who watched live broadcasting on TV networks. (PHOTO)

Interview following Youth Festival:
MSGR. Hoser: The first reaction and the first thing I have to say is that bishops, archbishops and cardinals from Rome and other places, were at first surprised. They discovered an unknown reality that was often hidden. They were very moved, sensitised by the atmosphere that was at the Youth Festival, by the enthusiasm and joy shown by the young people. (PHOTO)

Another Interview:
As we know, one branch of the New Evangelisation has pastoral responsibility for the shrines in the world. Even though Medjugorje has still not been officially recognised as the shrine, this place is the destination for millions of pilgrims each year. Since we too have the responsibility for pilgrimages, I received this invitation with great gratitude, as it has brought me here.
Objavljeno: 16.09.2019.

Finally, I’d like to share a few thoughts from the homily by the Pope’s representative in Medjugorje, the Apostolic Visitor, Archbishop Henryk Hoser, which was given on Day 3 of the Festival and was found at the link above:

"At the first sight, [there is] nothing special about this Croatian, peasant parish, surrounded with vineyards and green hills.
However, Medjugorje is also something that one needs to encounter…
It is that invisible reality, yet intensive and very much present. This is the world of the spirit, the world where man encounters God and this encounter takes place inside each of us, it takes place in our hearts. Poor human hearts that jump for joy or [are] devastated with pain…
To dwell with the Most Holy Trinity in our hearts… is where our Mother of God and our Mother is leading us to, the same Mother from Czestochowa, from Vilnus, Lourdes, Fatima, Kibeho and from Medjugorje, the Queen of Peace. Let us allow her to lead us!”

I pray that these words, images and videos move us.
May they help us experience the “invisible reality, the world of the spirit, the world where man encounters God” that is so “intensely present” in Medjugorje that Archbishop Hoser proclaims in his homily.
And I pray that Our Mother’s coming to earth is not a gift that God has given to us in vain.
Mary, Our Lady, Queen of Peace and our Mother, help us to become instruments in helping bring about your Triumph that you first prophesied in Fatima and have echoed in Medjugorje – a Triumph we so desperately need in this world of ever-increasing darkness.
Thank you, Almighty Father, for allowing Mary to be present to us in such a supernatural way in this time of extraordinary mercy. May we use this time wisely, and by the prayers and sacrifice we offer, may many souls be saved for your glory. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Medjugorje 2.0: What are We to Believe About Medjugorje? Here are MORE Facts!

“Vatican Confirms Medjugorje approval
by joining the youth festival”

MEDJUGORJE 2.0:
MORE Facts regarding Medjugorje:

This is a continuation to:
“What are We to Believe About Medjugorje? Here are the Facts”.:

It is meant to be a quick access guide to the latest facts regarding Medjugorje.
May it be a gift to you and to all those you share it with:

Fact:  Medjugorje is a village where tens of millions have visited since 1981. It has been reported consistently and undeniably, for over 38 years, that Mary, the Mother of Jesus has been coming to earth every day to call people to conversion and prayer. The reported apparitions are ongoing.

In the reported messages, Mary calls herself the “Queen of Peace” and asks for:
Peace, for her children to convert and have strong faith and to pray with the heart through centering our lives on the Eucharist (adoring and going to Mass daily if possible), reading Scripture and praying the rosary daily (with our families), fasting twice a week and confessing once a month. Up to 50 million people have made pilgrimages there.

Fact: St. John Paul II had a great love for Medjugorje.

“A priest testified the pope had been interested in Medjugorje from the very beginning, because right before our apparitions started, he had been praying for Our Lady to appear again on Earth.
"I cannot do it all alone, Mother," he prayed. "In Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Poland and so many other communist countries, people cannot freely practice their faith. I need your help, dear Mother."
According to this priest, when the pope heard that Our Lady had appeared in a tiny village in a communist country, he immediately thought Medjugorje had to be an answer to his prayers.”

The above story, the following quotes (and many more) are referenced here: “Medjugorje: In St. John Paul II’s Own Words”: https://enteringintothemystery.blogspot.com/2019/10/medjugorje-in-st-john-paul-iis-own-words.html

·      Regarding the liberation of Poland from Communism:
"No, this is not my merit. This is the work of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as She had predicted in Fatima and in Medjugorje."

·      "Our Lady of Medjugorje will save America!"

·      “Today’s world has lost its sense of the supernatural, but many are searching for it – and find it in Medjugorje, through prayer, penance, and fasting.”

·      “Medjugorje is a continuation, an extension of Fatima. Our Lady is appearing in communist countries primarily because of problems that originate in Russia.”

·      “Medjugorje is the hope for the entire world.”

·      “Medjugorje, Medjugorje, it's the spiritual heart of the world.”

·      “Medjugorje? Medjugorje? Medjugorje? Only good things are happening at Medjugorje. People are praying there. People are going to Confession. People are adoring the Eucharist, and people are turning to God. And, only good things seem to be happening at Medjugorje.”

·      “If I were not pope I would already be in Medjugorje confessing.”

·      “Approve all that is related to Medjugorje.”

·      “…I thank Mrs. Zofia for everything concerning Medjugorje. I , too, go there every day as a pilgrim in my prayers: I unite in my prayers with all those who pray there or receive a calling for prayer from there. Today we have understood this call better. I rejoice that our time is not lacking people of prayer and apostles…”

·      “Medjugorje is better understood these days. This kind of “urging” of our Mother is better understood today when we see with our very eyes the enormousness of the danger. At the same time, the response in the way of a special prayer – and that coming from people all around the world – fills us with hope that here, too, the good will prevail. Peace is possible…”

Fact: Cardinals and Bishops throughout the world testify to the fruits of Medjugorje. Here are just a few:

In 1983, only two years after the apparitions began, Cardinal Kuharic, then-Primate of Croatia, reflected:
“How can I doubt that Medjugorje is God’s doing?
…Do you know that half a million young people have surrendered to Christ? The Lord is stirring this country! They need fifty to sixty priests every weekend just to hear confessions and to counsel these young people! And it’s all because this apparition!”

Cardinal Siri of Genoa, 1989 [Gebet, #4, 1990]:
"I have noticed that the people who come from Medjugorje become apostles. They renew the parishes. They form groups in which they get together, prayer groups. They pray before the Blessed Sacrament. They hold lectures, lead discussions and bring others to Medjugorje. And these circles - these prayer groups - spread out more and more. They renew the Church!"

Bishop Domenico Pecile, Vicar of St John Lateran Basilica, the Pope’s Cathedral in Rome:
"In Medjugorje Our Lady is coming in a very powerful way... It is impossible not to see here the Lord our God. Impossible!...
In all our churches throughout the world, it should be as it is here in Medjugorje!”

Fact:  The New evangelization is taking place in Medjugorje

The Papal Appointed Apostolic Visitor to Medjugorje, Archbishop Henryk Hoser:
·       “There is no doubt …We live here the new evangelization, as Marian devotion developing here is very dynamic. This is the time and the place of conversion. Here, one discovers God’s existence in his own life and God’s desire to be present in the human heart in the society that lives as if God does not exist.”
·      “…fruits of profound conversion… the most mature and the most important fruit is the phenomenon of conversion through confessions, peace and reconciliation.”
·      Regarding Rwanda, as he was also appointed the Apostolic Visitor for Rwanda: “There are many similar elements … Our Lady in Kibeho wanted to warn the people of the future events that proved to be the genocide. This was the mission of the Queen of Peace, and it is a certain continuation of the apparitions in Fatima. … The apparitions in Medjugorje began also in 1981, a few months before Kibeho and it also proved to have the importance for the future war in the former Yugoslavia. Devotion to the Queen of Peace is developing here in Medjugorje and we find many similarities with the apparitions in Fatima. The invocation “The Queen of Peace”, was introduced to the Loreto Litanies by Pope Benedict XV, in 1917, in the year of the apparitions in Fatima, during the World War I and the Soviet Revolution. We can see God as ever-present in the human history and He sends us Our Lady to be close to us in every time.” http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/news/information/mons.-henryk-hoser-on-medugorje-this-is-the-time-and-the-place-of-conversion.-this-is-where-we-live-the-new-evangelisation,10198.html

Archbishop Rino Fisichella, the President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization celebrated the last Mass of the Youth Festival:
·      one branch of the New Evangelization has pastoral responsibility for the shrines in the world. Even though Medjugorje has still not been officially recognized as the shrine, this place is the destination for millions of pilgrims each year
·      One cannot notice that pilgrims walk all over this place with rosary beads in their hands and they pray, as they walk in the roads, as they climb the hills, everywhere…I believe this is one really positive sign...
·      I was also impressed by the great number of youth here.

Fact: For 30 years, millions of young people from nearly every country on earth have come to the Annual Youth Festival that is hosted in Medjugorje.

REgarding the 3oth Annual Youth Fest August 1-5, 2019

The Catholic New Service reported, in an article entitled: “Vatican confirms Medjugorje approval by joining youth festival”:

“Radio Medjugorje reported Aug. 5 that parts of the festival had been watched via the internet by more than 2.8 million people worldwide.
Speaking at an Aug. 2 press conference, Hoser said the pope had “opened a great door to enter Medjugorje” with his May decree, adding that he was “personally and intimately convinced” the Marian center offered “a model for new evangelization.”
He said Medjugorje should be seen as “a living, dynamic reality,” with over 700 vocations so far recorded there, adding that the center’s importance was summed up “by the people coming here, praying here, being transformed here and returning to their countries with the Gospel spirit they breathed here.”
“The Holy See’s position has crystallized clearly and has two aspects: the pastoral aspect, which is fully accepted, and the doctrinal aspect, meaning study of the apparitions,” he told KAI, Poland’s Catholic information agency.
“The fact apparitions are still continuing is the main obstacle to a final ruling, since it’s hard to decide on something which hasn’t finished. For now, the question of recognizing the authenticity of the apparitions remains in the hands of the Secretariat of State.”  https://cruxnow.com/church-in-europe/2019/08/06/vatican-confirms-medjugorje-approval-by-joining-youth-festival/

Apostolic Nuncio to Bosnia and Herzegovina Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto:
·      “We are already considering how to involve the bishops within the universal Church, not just by coming here, but also to be engaged as much as their lay people and priests, in organizing the youth in their dioceses for coming to the Youth Festival in Medjugorje, and for all the other pilgrimages, too. We must get to the point that the bishops are the ones who will organize the pilgrimages of their faithful to Medjugorje and that there is a true Marian devotion, which should be Christocentric."

The Papal Appointed Apostolic Visitor to Medjugorje, Archbishop Henryk Hoser:
·      "During the Youth Festival, there were 14 shepherds, the Church Officials, cardinals, archbishops and bishops present here and among them three representatives of the Holy See.
·      The first reaction and the first thing I have to say is that bishops, archbishops and cardinals from Rome and other placesdiscovered an unknown reality that was often hidden. They were very moved, sensitized by the atmosphere that was at the Youth Festival, by the enthusiasm and joy shown by the young people. They were fascinated by the ability youth here presented in remaining in the complete silence, and these were young people who constantly lived in a noise, with earphones in their ears. And what touched these cardinals and bishops was how they reacted to catechesis. You had the impression that they were sitting in silence, getting bored because there was absolute silence, and then when they finished they explode in applause, which meant they followed and listened what was said.
·      Everyone noted …specific realities of Medjugorje.
·      The first one we already talked about is confessions. There were 700 priests engaged in confessions. During the day they confessed for hours.
·      Another very powerful aspect is Adoration - Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Veneration of the Cross - the liturgical practices that have almost disappeared along with confession in the rest of the world.
·      And the third aspect they have noticed is the prayer of the Rosary. This is the place where the Rosary is said on daily basis. The Rosary, in many countries, is considered to be a prayer of elderly women and here we see young people with rosaries in their hands..." http://www.medjugorje.hr/en/news/nuncio-pezzuto-bishops-need-to-be-engaged-in-organising-pilgrimages-to-medjugorje,10472.html
