Jesus Wept! A Homily for Those Broken by the Abuse Even So, Let Us Not Forget We Have Hope!

I want to share a beautiful and profound homily by Reverend Edmond
Kline. Many people have offered thanks to me for sharing this sermon- even
dear friend who's husband committed suicide after being abused by
a predatory priest.
She said:
"I printed out this homily and will read it again and again."
Because it is so worthy, I wanted to share it's profound beauty with a
wider audience.
You can find it online here as well.
May it be a blessing for you!
"Yesterday, I went to ICU to give a Catholic patient Holy Communion.  I could see the patient was clearly distressed. She said, “Father you have no idea how much I have been wanting to receive Jesus in Holy Communion.”
I gave her Holy Communion and was about to walk out of her room when she said, “Father I am so upset.  What do you think about all those priests abusing those children?”
She said, “When the Boston scandal came out years ago, I was going to leave the Catholic Church. But my husband convinced me to stay and I was glad I did. Now, my husband wants to leave the Church and I want to stay”.
She said, “I love my Church. I can’t imagine becoming Episcopalian or Lutheran or some other religion, yet I am so disgusted with my Church.”
I said, “I am so angry that so many priests abused all those innocent children. It’s disgusting.”
I said, “I am not only angry because of the children abused. I am angry because some of the bishops covered it up.”
I said, “Pride caused the bishops to be more concerned about protecting their status, then protecting children.”
I said, “Don’t leave the Church, the Catholic Church is one true Church founded by Jesus Christ. The Church is going through terrible times, but it’s the bride of Christ and Jesus will purify His Church. He will make all things better. The Catholic Church has the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. All of this depravity is caused by the devil, who is attacking our Church and we need to stand up for our Church and we need to tell the devil, to go to hell.”
She said, “Will you speak about it from the pulpit? I know my priest from my parish won’t say a word.”
She said, “You probably feel like everyone is looking at you as though you have done something wrong.”
I said, “Yes, I will speak about it. And yes, I feel like people stare at me as though I have done something wrong.”
We both said we would pray for each other and then I departed her room.
My dear friends, the revelation of the abuse of children by Catholic priests and the covering up of the abuse by bishops-- has caused many to be scandalized. We are angry, we are sad. We feel shame.  Yet, there is one person who has suffered more than anyone else, who feels more pain than anyone else and that person is Jesus. There are two words in the bible I think that best express the way Jesus feels today. The words are John Chapter 11 verse 35. “Jesus wept.”
Do you recall why Jesus wept? He wept because of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is a symbol of the Church. Today, He weeps because of what is happening in His Church.

I have a picture of Jesus crowned with thorns over my bed. It’s called the “Ecce Homo” picture, which means “Behold the Man”.
In the picture you can see a tear falling down the face of Jesus.
Jesus wept, when each child was abused.
Jesus wept when the families of the children found out about it.
Jesus wept when Our Lord saw His sacred ministers use the authority of their status to hurt children.
Jesus wept when they offered the Holy Mass making it a sacrilege due to their sin.
Jesus wept when He saw the sacred priesthood defamed.
Jesus wept when he saw the children grow up to become adults and have emotional problems.
How they fail to come to know God’s love because they were betrayed by someone who represented God.
Jesus wept when His bishops, who are apostles betrayed the children.
Jesus wept when He saw the people of His Church and the people throughout the world scandalized.
Jesus wept, when He saw people leave His Church and others not to join the Church because of this scandal.
Love. Forgiveness. Reparation. Call to Action. Hope. What is our response today?  We are to love the abused and love the abusers. Most especially, we should show our love for those who have been hurt that they will come to know Jesus suffered with them at that terrible moment. Our love will cause us to make sure we help establish ways to protect children.
Our love will cause us to pray they discover God’s love and healing. Sexual abuse is not limited to the Catholic Church, it’s in every institution and every religion. Over years as a priest, I met many sexually abused by their father, by their uncle, or by someone else they trusted and have seen real healing occur by those who spend time before Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. Over a period of time, when committed to making a weekly Holy Hour, Jesus gently and slowly helps them to heal and begin to feel loved. He can change their lives. It’s tempting for us to want revenge and to feel deep anger and even hatred to those who abused children. But that’s not Christian. Jesus even loved Judas. All He wanted Judas to do- was to be sorry for his betrayal. To trust in His mercy. But Judas despaired and as far as we know did not ask for forgiveness. God’s mercy is for everyone, but it needs to be asked for.Do you recall Jesus was betrayed with a kiss, by Judas. Our Lord was stripped of His clothes. He was held down and nailed to the Cross. He was defiled.  He was innocent. He was pure. He was sinless. He was like a lamb led to the slaughter. Jesus said, “What you do to the least of my brothers, you do unto me.” What they did to the children, they did to Jesus. Our Lord suffered in the children. God is inside us through baptism and so when we feel pain, or sorrow or distress, Jesus feels that pain, sorrow and distress. In Eucharistic prayer one, it describes the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist as: “The pure victim. The holy victim. The spotless victim.” Jesus understands the pain and suffering of the innocent victims of child abuse because He Himself was a victim. He knows what it is like to be betrayed by someone whom He trusted.  The word “Host” means victim. On the altar Jesus comes inside the Host as the eternal victim and then comes to give us His love in Holy Communion. The more abuse victims receive Jesus in Holy Communion, the more love they receive from Him, allow Him to soothe their pain and comfort them in their sorrow. When receiving Communion, the divine Victim gives His love to the human victim. We must love the Judas betrayers who victimized children. In the simplicity and the purity of their hearts, children trust adults, but woe to those who betray their trust by hurting them. Jesus said, “It is inevitable that scandals will come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to be scandalized.”

There is a poem Fr. Leo Clifford used to recite about Judas and Jesus.  The poem goes like this:
Judas, if true love never ceases
how could you, my friend, have come to this:
To sell me for thirty silver pieces
and betray me with a kiss?
Judas, remember what I taught you,
do not despair while hanging on the rope.
It's because you sinned that I have sought you;
I came to give you hope.
Judas, let us pray and hang together,
you on your halter, I upon my hill.
Dear friend, even if you loved me never,
you know I love you still.

Forgive. We need to forgive our priests and bishops in their colossal moral failure. Though we can never understand how someone’s mind can become so depraved as to defile innocent children for their own pleasure, we must forgive. We need to pray for the priests who have injured the innocent, tarnished the priesthood and gave scandal to believers and non-believers alike.  We must forgive the bishops who placed their reputations and pride over the safety of innocent children. We need to pray for them. We need to pray that those who have been abused will be able to open their hearts to forgive their abusers.

Reparation. We need to make reparation to console the Heart of Jesus so wounded by these sins. We can make reparation by making a Holy Hour once a week before Jesus in an adoration chapel or before Jesus in a tabernacle in any church. We can make reparation by offering the graces from the Masses we attend and the graces from our Holy Communion.
Call to Action.  It is time for the laity to get involved and make things happen. You must take action. What action can you do? First, pray the Holy Rosary, knowing the Rosary is powerful against evil. Second, fast. To fast once a week for the victims and to fast for bishops and priests that they may be holy. Fasting is powerful against the workings of the devil. Third. We need to pray the St. Michael prayer every day and do the Novena requested by the Bishop. We are battling against evil --against the diabolical. Fourth. We need to make our voices heard demanding the Vatican and the US Bishops adequately deal with this crisis to prevent it from happening again.
Hope.  We have hope because Church is the bride of Christ and He will never forsake her. Jesus said, “the gates of hell shall not prevail” against her. Our hope is founded on Jesus Himself. God is always victorious. In the end, we win. In the end, the devil will be cast into hell forever and the victims will be rewarded in heaven for being faithful, for trusting God, for persevering. We have hope that these terrible crimes of abuse are very rare today. We have hope because in 2005, the Vatican said those who have homosexual inclinations should not be ordained. We have hope because Pope Benedict changed canon law to clerics who abuse children are excommunicated from the Catholic Church.  We have hope because the report dating back 70 years taken from the secret files of the dioceses chanceries indicated only 2 out of 300, of the accused, were still in active ministry today. They are either dead or no longer in ministry. We have hope because due to the policies implemented 12 years ago by the US bishops, the percentage of credible accusations dropped from 4% to .005 in the past two years. We have hope because there are many good and holy priests, who sacrifice themselves for God’s people and proclaim the truth.  And the words of Jesus about His true presence in the Eucharist give us hope. He said, “If you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will remain in me and I in you”. And “If you eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will live forever.”My friends, as we gaze upon the victim of victims in the Sacred Host, we see the face of God, who loves us, is with us in our suffering and wants to give us His peace. Through the intercession of Mary, may God make all things new and restore the Church to its original beauty as His spotless bride."

Thank God Our Mother is Cleaning House!

It has been crushing to read the horrific reports of Cardinal McCarrick's predatory abuse, the grand jury report of the 1000 abused in Pennsylvania over the last 70 years, and now, to read the Testimony of Cardinal Vigano, in which he names people very high up in the Church, including Pope Francis, as complicit in allowing Cardinal McCarrick's predatory abuse.

Cardinal Vigano's personage and character has been upheld by many and the allegations he makes have been deemed credible and important to investigate by many of our bishops, including the Cardinal DiNardo, President of U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, who said:
"The recent letter of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò brings particular focus and urgency to this examination [of the grave moral failings of bishops]. The questions raised deserve answers that are conclusive and based on evidence. Without those answers, innocent men may be tainted by false accusation and the guilty may be left to repeat sins of the past. (emphasis mine).
While I have been crushed upon learning the enormity of the evil that has been present,
and the pain that has been inflicted upon so many of the innocents
... whom my heart breaks for and with ...
yet, this has not caused me to despair or lose faith in the Church.

Rather, I believe this is a time of hope!
How can I say that?
Because I rejoice that the grave evil that has lain hidden within our Church is coming to light.
And because it is becoming known, I hope and pray that it will now, finally, be possible to be rooted out!

I rejoice because I believe the words of Christ: the Truth will set us free!

I rejoice because I see this as Mary's motherly hand cleaning out the the filth of sin and corruption that Satan has sown in her House, the Church, in order to bring about the time of her Triumph as she prophesied at Fatima 100 years ago, which must be a time when the innocents will never again be abused.

In a conversation with one of the reported visionaries of Medjugorje, Mirjana said Mary's coming so frequently and for so long is in order to prepare us for an upheaval of events that she likened to a mother cleaning house.

She said that it will look like chaos, but it will put things in order in the end.

This is an excerpt of Mirjana's words:

... the Gospa [the Croatian name for Our Blessed Mother] is preparing us for everything that is going to take place through the love of God our Father. She said that she would finish in Medjugorje what she has started in Fatima, and that her heart would prevail. She is preparing us for this victory.
Q: Do you see any signs of these events being put into motion? Are they happening now, or are they awaiting us in the far future?
A: I see small signs, they are already here; slowly, things are starting to move. Women will understand me better with the following example: when we want to do our spring cleaning, we first turned our homes upside down. We move our sofas, cupboards, tables, chairs – nothing remains in its place. To someone it may seem like a mess but, when we put everything back into its place, everything is spick and span. Therefore, if we wish to make some order, we first need to make a big mess. I can see the signs of this. (From: A Conversation with the Visionaries by Kresimir Sego).
In confirmation of this interpretation, providentially, a friend shared an amazing homily with me, in which Father Robert Altier, priest at the Church of St. Raphael in Crystal, Minnesota speaks of Mary cleaning house!

The homily was given August 19, 2018, three days before the bombshell testimony of Cardinal Vigano, but it speaks of the corruption that Cardinal Vigano says he feels bound by conscience to bring to light -- not to bring the Church into schism as so many fear - but in order to heal it!

I loved this homily that speaks of Mary's house cleaning.

Then, more confirmation of Mary's work to clean the corruption and filth of our Church came from a priest friend who sent the same homily to me, saying:

Friends,
You have to listen to this homily.
The purification of the Church has begun and it being done by Our Lady.
Our Mother is cleaning house.
The letter of Archbishop was written on the Queenship Mary.
Here is a homily by Fr. Altier.
Wow!
It's 20 min, but you have to take the time to listen.
Send it to others who you know could use it.
So, I'm sending the homily on to you.
I pray you take the time to listen to it: https://straphaelcrystal.org/homily/august-19-2018/

If you can't listen right now, here are some quick notes I took from it:

Father Altier says we are living in a time when evil is called good and good is called evil. (cf. Isaiah 5:20), s
aying there is an:
"intentional and malicious infiltration of the Church for the purpose of destroying her from within"...

He speaks of people with an agenda
most specifically - predatory homosexuals
He gives sources to back up his claims, (listed below) that confirm a concerted effort to infiltrate Catholic seminaries with homosexuals beginning in 1924, and on order from the Kremlin beginning in 1929.

This is the Purification of the Church -

the One Church that Christ founded for the salvation of souls

Our Lady's work has finally begun! Praise God!

Remember our faith is not in priests, not in bishops or cardinals.

It is in Jesus!
It is he who promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church.

The Church is Jesus Christ!

Look at Jesus and say with Peter:
To whom shall we go

you have the words of eternal life!

There is no stopping mom when she starts cleaning....
And when she gets done with the room
it is immaculate
Jesus cleaned like a man - cleaning up the big stuff in the middle of the room.
This time it's Mom's turn and
not a cobweb will be left,
there will be no dust in the corners...
It's going to be beautiful!

The resurrection will only happen after the crucifixion

1 Peter: "Purification begins in the house of God"

[All the evil that is rampant in society]...
it's all going down
it just starts in the Church
it needs to be cleaned up
Our Mother is cleaning house

JPII spoke of the New Springtime

Our Lady of Fatima spoke of the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart

That's what coming!

It is not a point of despair!

[It is a time to pray and fast -- Live the Messages of Our Lady, Queen of Peace]

This kind of demon only prayer and fasting can get rid of it.

We're going to be going through some hard times,

but we will experience a New Resurrection, New Springtime, the Triumph of Our Lady

Remain faithful to Jesus

He spoke of Louis Marie de Montfort's prophesy in these latter times:
God is going to raise up the greatest saints we've ever seen. Even to the point that they will tower over the saints of the past like the cedars of Lebanon tower over shrubs.
[I referenced this same prophesy in greater detail in my article: Hope Amid Evil - Jesus Bringing Mary to Heaven Signals Our Victory]

You can be one of those saints!

These times are evil

so make the best of your time

Remain faithful to Jesus all the way to the crucifixion

and
become a great saint!

... End notes from the homily.

Wow!

While the tragedy, sin and evil is grave...

it gives me great hope that what has long been hidden is being brought into the light!
What has been done in secret is being proclaimed.

I sense the mighty winds of the Holy Spirit breathing new life into the Church as Mary's Triumph begins to rise up from the ashes of Satan's attempts to destroy the Church.

Of course, God knew of these planned and purposeful attacks would come against the Church.
So, was His plan to counteract them?
What was His plan to help us cling to the Church and the Sacraments that He had founded and died to give us - even in the midst of the evil penetrating it?
What was His plan to help us realize the depth of His Love for us and draw us to Him?

Hasn't it been, at least in part, His sending us Our Mother to help us?

So, while acknowledging that the Church tells us that we are never bound to believe in any private revelation, because the fullness of our Faith is revealed to us in Christ, in Scripture, and in the Public Revelation passed down to us by the apostles.
We must also acknowledge that neither does the Church forbid the faithful from believing in private revelation that is not contrary to our Faith or morals.
Because, as it has happened often in the past,
Our Lord in His Great Mercy,
in times of grave necessity,
has sent extraordinary help to aid us in holding fast to Christ and His Church...
to reinforce a revealed Truth that is not clearly understood
or that is no longer being practiced.
An authentic apparition never contradicts the Public Revelation of Christ, Scripture and the Church.

Isn't this a time of grave necessity?
Isn't this a time when revealed Truth is no longer clearly understood or practiced?
Isn't it His plan to send His Mother to prepare us...
to show us the way of holiness in the midst of evil...
and to ask for our help?
Didn't she come to let us know what needed to be done in order to combat the forces of hell coming against the Church?

No wonder she asked us to make everything you do a sacrifice to offer to the Lord and to consecrate ourselves and Russia to her Immaculate Heart!

No wonder Our Lady asked us to pray the rosary every day!

Again and again, she has come to tell us the Rosary is the weapon against evil! See here for examples of it's great power.

She warned us of what would happen if we didn't respond to her requests

evil would be able to become entrenched in our world and even in our Church.

Our Lady of Fatima warned us:
"If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church.”
Our Lady of Fatima Predicted the Moral Scandal Rocking the Church Today - Fatima Center writes:
Sister Lucia (who at age ten had been one of the child-seers to whom Our Lady confided the Great Secret of Fatima, depicting in stark detail the horrible trials which the Church would suffer, barring Our Lady’s intervention), gave repeated testimony of a diabolic corruption of the clergy already well advanced in the years immediately following the Second Vatican Council. Many “blind” souls would be lost, she lamented, who would too-trustingly allow themselves to be led astray by the many churchmen of our day who are unworthy of their roles – themselves deceived, and misleading others:
“It is painful to see such a great disorientation and in so many persons who occupy places of responsibility [in the Church]….
“[T]he devil has succeeded in infiltrating evil under cover of good, and  …  in leading into error and deceiving souls having a heavy responsibility through the place which they occupy….  They are blind men guiding other blind men…, as the Lord tells us in His Gospel, and souls are letting themselves be deceived.
“Gladly I sacrifice myself and offer my life to God for peace in His Church, for priests and for all consecrated souls, especially for those who are so deceived and misled!”
So, the question is:

Will we also sacrifice ourselves for Our Church?

Will we listen to her pleas to:

“Pray, pray very much, and make sacrifices for sinners; for many souls go to hell, because there are none to sacrifice themselves and pray for them.”
Words from Our Lady of Fatima,
August 19, 1917

The stakes are so amazingly high!
Will her words pierce our hearts and encourage us to pray -
for how can my excuses compare to the eternal torment and loss of an immortal soul?

It is so incredible that God calls us to take our part in redeeming the world, evidenced in Scripture and in the words of Our Lady:

“Dear children... I want you to comprehend that God has chosen each one of you, in order to use you in His great plan for the salvation of mankind. You are not able to comprehend how great your role is in God's design. Therefore, dear children, pray so that in prayer you may be able to comprehend what God's plan is in your regard. I am with you in order that you may be able to bring it about in all its fullness. Thank you for having responded to my call." January 25, 1987
I am convinced (like Fr. Amorth, the chief exorcist of Rome who gave this interview before he died) that Medjugorje is God's answer and His action plan in defeating the schemes of Satan.

In every message, Our Lady has asked for us to pray for priests... for our shepherds as she calls them...

Imagine if all of this evil that we are experiencing is what Mary has been trying to prevent?

Imagine what can be done if we respond to her requests?

Father Amorth lamented:

“How bitter, how bitter was the last message of Our Lady of Medjugorje, on August 25: 'Many have responded, but there is an enormous number of those who do not want to hear or accept my call.'
Now look here; it is very sour, this balance. After more than thirty years! More than thirty years! Now if it is the pagans who don’t listen to Our Lady’s words, then that I can understand. But be you a Christian, it is not forgivable. Be you a Christian! Even priests and bishops don’t even want to hear about it. It is not that they went there and then made their decision fairly after seeing things for themselves, no! They don’t even want to hear it being spoken about!”
“The Gospel is so clear, it tells us how to discern! By the fruits you will know the tree! It has been 30 years ... [and] Medjugorje has given us fruits that are ultimately exquisite! Confession, conversion, vocations, graces of every kind! For more than 30 years!”
Read here of the Innumerable Reasons the Chief Exorcist of Rome proclaims Medjugorje "A Fortress Against Satan"

Much has changed since the above article was written. The Holy Father has a presence in Medjugorje now through his apostolic visitor, which you can find out more about here, here and here

If Mary is truly leading us in Medjugorje by providing us with a school of prayer and holiness, isn't it fitting that Satan would spread great lies and misunderstandings that would cause people to reject Medjugorje outright?

Mary's messages have been called heaven's peace plan and the weapon against Satan.
Fr. Jozo, (the parish priest at the time the apparitions began who was imprisoned by the communists for protecting the children) likened these messages of Mary as the 5 small stones of David used to defeat Goliath.

Her messages ask us to:
  1. Pray with the heart all the mysteries of the rosary daily
  2. Live Mass and the Eucharist (again daily if possible)
  3. Live Conversion with monthly confession (saying: "Monthly Confession will be a remedy for the Church in the West.")
  4. Fast on bread and water twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays (Remember Jesus' words: "Certain demons can only be cast out through prayer and fasting")
  5. Live the Scriptures - have it in a visible place in your home and pray it daily with your family
Do these requests sound like a diabolical plot?
Or do they rather sound like a plan for holiness?
A plan to make us saints?
A gift of God?

Many are asking for renewed prayer and fasting in order to combat this crisis, but none more comprehensively than Our Blessed Mother has been for these past 37 years.

What if Mary is truly coming to Medjugorje?
If she is, isn't this one of the greatest miracles in the history of the Church?
If she is, how amazing is it to be able to go to a place where she is appearing now?
Where so many people testify it is a place where, "Heaven touches the earth!"

Perhaps, now is the time to listen to her call to holiness?
Perhaps now we'll begin to see it as heaven's answer to the evil times in which we live.

Perhaps, now we will listen and respond...
I pray it be so!

Addendum:

This article was meant to be a follow-up to my articles that I wrote on the Feast of the Assumption and then
this one that I wrote on the Queenship of Mary:
Never Lose Hope Amid TESTIMONY of Apostolic Nuncio Who Names Those Complicit with Abuse.

This last one has completely disappeared off my website, which says this article doesn't exist!
I can't tell you how many attacks are happening to keep me from writing, including losing another 2 articles that failed completely to upload unto my site.
PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!
Did anybody happen to copy this? If so can you reach out to me, so I can get it back?

The only portion that remains is this excerpt that I used to promote the article, that I repeat here because I believe it is so important:

In the midst of these horrific sins that cry out to God for vengeance, may we not allow the Judases in the Church to take us from Christ and His Mystical Body.
Let us instead cling to Jesus, Mary and Holy Mother Church, taking to heart the conclusion of Cardinal Vigano's testimony, which proclaims:

"Even in dismay and sadness over the enormity of what is happening, let us not lose hope!
We well know that the great majority of our pastors live their priestly vocation with fidelity and dedication.
It is in moments of great trial that the Lord’s grace is revealed in abundance and makes His limitless mercy available to all; but it is granted only to those who are truly repentant and sincerely propose to amend their lives. This is a favorable time for the Church to confess her sins, to convert, and to do penance.
Let us all pray for the Church and for the Pope, let us remember how many times he has asked us to pray for him!
Let us all renew faith in the Church our Mother:“I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church!”
Christ will never abandon His Church!
He generated her in His Blood and continually revives her with His Spirit!
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!
Mary, Virgin and Queen, Mother of the King of glory, pray for us!"
Finally, here are the sources Fr. Altier lists:

1. The Homosexual Network: Private Lives and Public Policy by Enrique Rueda

He details the infiltration of the priesthood beginning in 1924.

2. Bella Dodd's testimony: School of Darkness

She testified to congress after she converted to Catholicism how the Kremlin instructed her to take the best and brightest - good looking, social, bright enough to live a double life
She personally brought in 1200 seminarians, who became priests, bishops and as of 1953, 4 cardinals in the Vatican.

3. The plan of the Communist Party is outlined in Toward a Soviet America,

by William Forrest in 1932. He ran for president of the United States for the Communist Party in 1924, 28, 32. He says: Morality, Family and Patriotism in America was hindering it from becoming communist.
The plan would be to attack these through homosexuality and radical feminism. Fr. Aliert didn't reference these articles to radical feminism, but I found them enlightening:
